John Adams was born on 1 May 1655 in Cambridge, Massachusetts Bay Colony. He was the son of John and Anne (_____) Adams.
John Adams bought 5 June 1683 of Gookin & How 200 acres lying between John Bent on the East, the Rice and Pratt lands on the south, taking in Jacob’s meadow, and the west line following the brook to the river, and bounded on the north by the David Stone land. He built northeast of Dr. H. Cowles’, near the railroad crossing. He was known as one of the Sudbury “out-dwellers.”

John Adams married as his first wife Hannah Bent, daughter of John Bent and Hannah Stone, on 26 February 1680 in Sudbury, Massachusetts Bay Colony.

John Adams married as his second wife Elizabeth Barnes on 11 October 1692 in Marblehead, Province of Massachusetts Bay.

John Adams married, before 1706, Sarah Rice. [Sarah (Rice) Adams was a niece of Edward Rice who m. Agnes Bent, who was the aunt of John's first wife, Hannah (Bent) Adams. Sarah was also a first cousin of Martha (Rice) Bent, Hannah's step-mother.]

12 February 1707/08, John Adams of Sudbury, yeoman, and Sarah his wife sell to John Rice, Jr. of Sudbury, husbandman, a tract of land in Sudbury containing twenty-three acres, bounded partly on land of Deacon Edmund Rice.[2]

6 March 1722/23, John Adams of Sudbury, husbandman, for many good causes but especially for love and good will, etc., conveys to his dutiful son Charles Adams of Sudbury, husbandman, several parcels on the east side of Sudbury river: a piece of land on pine plain containing eighteen acres; a piece of meadow containing three acres; also one half of twenty-two acres and three quarters of land laid out to the right of Thomas White, etc.; Sarah his wife yielding up her right of dower.[3]

The same day, for love and good will, etc., John conveys to his youngest son, Thomas, several parcels of upland and meadow on the east side of Sudbury river: his dwelling house and nine acres of upland; a barn and five acres of upland lying near the said dwelling house; one half of twenty-two acres and three quarters of woodland; eight or nine acres of meadow near Weston; also eighteen acres of upland adjoining the aforesaid meadow; also, all his quick stock and husbandry utensils, cart, plows, chains, iron and wooden tools, all his outdoor and indoor movables, etc., reserving the use & improvement of all to himself and his wife Sarah Adams during their natural lives, Thomas to be at the cost of all of John's debts when he is deceased, and funeral charges for himself and wife Sarah.[4]

John Adams, Sr. and a number of his children removed to Worcester. Aaron removed before 21 December 1725 when he sells to John Hubbard of Worcester, yeoman, a messuage or tract of land in the north half of Worcester containing forty-five acres, also all his right in common and after divisions of lands which are or shall or may be proportioned by said lot.[5]

John died there in probably January 1735/36.

John Adams, of Worcester, made his will 23 March 1732/33 (pro. 4 February 1735/36) naming: wife Sarah; eldest son John, of Framingham; son Charles, of Worcester; daughter Mary Parmenter (m. Benjamin Parmenter, 16 December 1708, Sudbury); daughter Hannah Holden (m. James Holden, 17 February 1708/09, Charlestown, rec. Cambridge); daughter Rebecca Parmenter (m. Daniel Parmenter 30 March 1713/14, Sudbury); son Thomas, executor. Witnesses: Jonas Rice (Sarah's brother), Zebediah Rice (Sarah's nephew, son of James) and Absalom Rice (Sarah's nephew, son of Jonas).[6]

2 April 1734, Charles Adams, husbandman, and James Holden and Hannah his wife, all of Worcester, sell to their brother Thomas Adams of Worcester, husbandman, all their right, title, etc. in and unto the real and personal estate of their late brother, Aaron Adams, late of Worcester, deceased, particularly eighty acres of land where he (Thomas) now dwells.[7]
