He was deacon at the Hanover Lutheran church, and is buried at the cemetery there. @S28@ Shared records at Ancestry.com are all over the place on this guy. Many have him listed as John Nicholas Ickes, born in Schoharie, NY. However, none of these have a source other than someone else’s gedcom file. They also vary on Johann/John’s parents. Some say he is the child of John (Johann) Christian Ickes and Margaret. Other’s list him as the child of the “widow” Ickes... father unknown. I have no idea.
